Standing with Nepal: Flood Relief, 2026

On the morning of 26 August 2026, a sudden and powerful flash flood swept through the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa district, Nepal, near the Nepal–China border. Triggered by a suspected glacial lake outburst, the flood devastated riverside settlements including Timure and Syabrubesi, destroying homes, bridges, roads, and vital infrastructure. Downstream districts, including Nuwakot and Dhading, were also affected. It was heartbreaking for all of us who heard about or witnessed the devastation. These events are a stark reminder of how climate change is hitting our communities.

Ashoka has contributed €6,000 to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to help support relief work on the ground. This contribution is part of Ashoka’s ongoing effort to stand by communities in need, in Nepal and elsewhere. We’re thankful for the continued trust and support of our guests that makes this work possible.

Charity: Water

2022-2023

At Ashoka Amsterdam, we are driven by a profound commitment to social responsibility and sustainability. With great pride, we announce our partnership with Charity:Water and our dedicated support for their transformative initiatives in Nepal.

Addressing Critical Needs

In Nepal, the challenge of accessible and clean water sources is particularly acute, especially in remote and underserved communities. Recognizing this pressing issue, Ashoka Amsterdam has pledged its support to Charity: Water's mission of providing clean water to those in need.

A Promise of Impact

Through our contribution of 10,000 euros, we stand alongside Charity: Water in their endeavor to implement vital water projects in Nepal. This donation will directly support the proposed grant to Helvetas Nepal, totaling $2.2 million, aimed at establishing 3,923 water points in areas such as the Dailekh, Kalikot, Jajarkot, or Surkhet Districts. Specifically, our contribution will aid in the installation of 17 new piped tap stands, ensuring that families in rural communities across the Dailekh, Kalikot, Jajarkot, or Surkhet Districts gain reliable access to safe and clean water sources.

We thank you all for your trust, support, and love for Ashoka.
